Onslow County man charged with death by distribution in Craven County

CRAVEN COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A Hubert man is being held under a $1.1 million bond after being charged with death by distribution in connection to a January overdose death.

The Craven County Sheriff's Office says James Stallings was arrested Wednesday and charged with felony death by distribution and possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver schedule II controlled substance.

Deputies say the charges are related to Frank Perocchi's overdose death on January 18.

At Stallings' home, fentanyl, meth and items consistent with distributing illegal drugs were found by investigators.

During his arrest, deputies say the 49-year-old man had a drug overdose and received medical treatment. Once he was cleared, Stallings' warrants were served and he was placed in the Craven County Detention Center under a $1.1 million bond.

Stallings also faces charges from the Onslow County Sheriff's Office.

Those charges are felony possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver schedule II controlled substance, possession of meth, maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia.
