Temperatures will drop to 5C this weekend in London as a cold snap looms. The mercury is set to fall into the single figures for five consecutive nights according to the Met Office.
Although it will be sunny throughout this period, Londoners are advised to wrap up warm as temperatures fall to 11C on Saturday and Sunday (October 25 and 26). Next week will bring slightly milder conditions of 14C but it will still remain cool overnight. So whilst it will be sunny this weekend - don't be fooled. The Met Office said it may be windy and feeling cold.
It comes after London experienced gale-force winds and heavy rain as Storm Benjamin caused chaos on Wednesday and Thursday. The Met Office had issued a rain warning for the entire South East with 90mm expected to fall in places.
Here's a look at the forecast for the end of October until mid-November.
Saturday 25 October: Most areas of London will remain dry, with bright or sunny spells in the morning. Variable cloud may appear in the afternoon with the chance of an isolated shower. It will be windy and cold, with a maximum of 12 °C. The Met Office said it will feel cold.
Sunday 26 October: Sunday morning should be mostly dry and bright, but clouds will build through the afternoon. By evening, light rain is expected. Strong winds will continue, keeping it feeling cold.
Monday 27 October: The day will see a mix of bright spells and scattered light showers, some of which could be heavy. It will be breezy and chilly, but conditions should brighten up later in the evening.
Tuesday 28 October: The day will start with some brightness, but patchy rain may develop later. Breezy conditions will persist, and temperatures are expected to be near the seasonal average.
Wednesday 29 October - Thursday 30 October: London is likely to experience variable cloud and occasional light showers. Winds will ease slightly, and temperatures should remain around average for late October.
Friday 31 October - Sunday 2 November: The weather may become more unsettled at the turn of the month, with wet and windy spells possible. High pressure may bring some drier intervals across London, but rain and breezy conditions are still likely at times.
Monday 3 November - Thursday 7 November: Conditions will remain changeable, with bands of rain moving from the Atlantic at times. The northwest will likely see the wettest and windiest weather, but London and the southeast may have periods of settled, drier weather, with temperatures trending slightly above average
According to the Met Office: "Around the turn of the month or into early November, wetter and windier conditions across the north and west are likely to extend more widely across the country. It is somewhat uncertain when this will occur with high pressure attempting to persist across the southeast maintaining more settled conditions here. Temperatures will be a little below average at the start of the period, likely trending upwards with potential for a mild spell around the turn of the month."
The forecasters continue: "Unsettled conditions are most likely during early November with showers or longer spells of rain across all areas at times along with spells of strong winds. Temperatures through this period are overall likely to be around or above average with any colder spells short-lived between weather systems. Into mid-November, while there is an increased chance of more settled spells, the likelihood of whether settled or unsettled conditions are more prevalent are reasonably balanced."
