The Dallas Cowboys are looking to get back to the playoffs after missing out on the postseason last year. As much as the ongoing saga between team owner and general manager Jerry Jones and star pass rusher Micah Parsons has dominated headlines, there are other important players on the Cowboys' roster.
The Cowboys have struggled to successfully run the ball in recent seasons, and Dallas is still trying to sort out the long-term answer to its struggles at the running back position. Unfortunately, Dallas suffered a major loss at the position this week.
"The #Cowboys will place rookie RB Phil Mafah (shoulder) on Injured Reserve, per sources. The plan is for him to return during the season. Mafah had 15 carries for 59 yards and one touchdown in the preseason," reported ESPN's Jeremy Fowler on Monday.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
"Yeah he's definitely not hurt but I'm ok with this lol," one Cowboys fan wrote on Twitter.
"Glad this means they're keeping him...however, there's still no need for Sanders on the roster," one fan wrote on Twitter.
"Okay now the Cowboys are just playing roster gymnastics so they can see what they have between Javonte, Miles, & Blue. If nothing pans out, Mafah gets a shot, someone else added.
It'll be interesting to see when Mafah is ready to return to action.
