POLICE Scotland Ayrshire and North Ayrshire Trading Standards have secured funding for fully-funded call blockers.

The TrueCall Secure units will be given to select community members to reduce nuisance landline calls by more than 95 per cent.

This will help protect vulnerable individuals from scam calls.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "If you or a vulnerable family member are receiving excessive cold calls to your landline that is causing unnecessary worry, contact North Ayrshire Trading Standards."

Victims of scams resulting in financial loss are advised to contact their bank and then call Police Scotland on 101.
