Fresno DUI checkpoint leads to 11 arrests

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - Eleven people were arrested Saturday for DUI at a checkpoint in Fresno, the city's police department said.

According to police, 28 drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with revoked or suspended licenses and over 353 vehicles were contacted.

Police say the DUI checkpoint was held at Clinton Avenue and Weber Avenue from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m.

Police say DUI checkpoint locations are based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes.

According to police, the primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.
