Newcastle United skipper Bruno Guimaraes struck late in the day to earn his side a vital 2-1 victory over Fulham.

After a spell of possession and some half-chances from Fulham, the Magpies grabbed the lead on 18 minutes. The opener came as Murphy closed down Calvin Bassey on the right and nicked the ball when Fulham were in possession.

Murphy missed a great chance to put his team two up but fluffed a one on one despite being in an almost identical positon. Fulham equalised when Brazilian sub Kevin teased a cross down the left before Raul Jimenez hit the bar and Sasa Lukic headed home.

But the game swung into life for Newcastle as sub William Osula wriggled through and forced Leno into a low save. The ball bounced out to Bruno who smashed him in the 90th minute.

Played his part with some key saves in the first half. No clean sheet but a good display.
