(WPDE) -- Each week ABC 15 and Benjamin Franklin Plumbing are proud to highlight a scholar athlete from each school playing in the Friday Night Rivals game.

This past Friday's scholar athlete is Daniel Rhodes, a football and soccer player from Cheraw High School.

Daniel has a 4.126 GPA and his athletic achievements include a Special Teams Player of the Game six times between last season and this season, the All Region 2024, the Coach's Award for Soccer freshman year and Best Defender freshman year.

He's also involved in Youth Group Dramas, serving food with Youth and planting plants and redoing some of the grounds at Arrowhead Park.

The Scholar Athletes are recognized for their achievements on the field, in the classroom and in the community.

The students selected will have an opportunity to win a $5,000 scholarship at the end of the season.

Over the past 8 seasons, FNR sponsors have donated over $70,000 to local schools and students.
