Belize is set to showcase its position as a premier destination for sustainable investment at the Belize Investment Summit 2025, a three-day event that opens tonight. The summit, which the government is touting as a major success, opens with a welcome reception at 6 p.m. at the Grand Caribe Resort in San Pedro Town. In his foreword to the event, Prime Minister John Briceño reaffirmed his government's dedication to an "inclusive and resilient economic strategy rooted in transparency, innovation, and sustainability." In his keynote address in tomorrow's opening ceremony, the Prime Minister is expected to highlight the strides made under the national development plan, PlanBelize. The government plans to demonstrate that economic growth and environmental stewardship can work hand-in-hand, citing leadership in climate finance, debt restructuring, and marine conservation. The summit will feature a diverse group of prominent speakers, including Adam Stewart of Sandals Resorts International and Dr. Ernesto Stein from Tecnológico de Monterrey. The agenda also includes addresses from international partners, with appearances by Tomás Bermúdez and Eric Parrado of the IDB. Throughout the event, ministers and officials will present high-potential investment sectors such as Agritech, Renewable Energy, Tourism, Agribusiness, and the Blue Economy. A key highlight of the event is the official signing of a GOB-IDB loan, a program designed to improve labor force participation and employability in Belize. The event's theme for this year is, "Bridging Markets, Building Resilience". The Belize Investment Summit 2025 is the third such event since it first launched in 2001.
