It took until the playoffs, but Wisconsin men's hockey team has its first victory over Ohio State

Ryland Mosley scored in the first period, Owen Mehlenbacher and Simon Tassy in the second and Kyle Kukkonen into an empty net in the third as Wisconsin upset Ohio State, 4-1, Friday night in the Big Ten hockey tournament in Columbus, Ohio.

The Badgers (12-19-3) and Buckeyes (21-11-2) will meet at 6 p.m. Saturday in the second game of the best-of-three first-round series and then if necessary again at 6 p.m. Sunday.

Mehlenbacher's goal 3:04 in the second period held up as the game-winner in UW's first win in five games against OSU this season. It was the fourth of his sophomore season.

Senior Tony Scarfone stopped 28 Ohio State shots on goal for just his third win in 12 appearances since the start of January.
