Next week's episodes of Coronation Street promise high drama as a four-year marriage comes to an end.
Fans of the soap will remember that Abi Webster has been having an affair with her husband Kevin Webster's brother, Carl Webster, for several weeks now.
Earlier this year, Kevin was diagnosed with testicular cancer and received the all-clear during the summer. However, he chose to keep this news from Abi, pretending he was still undergoing treatment in a desperate bid to prevent his wife from leaving him.
Upon discovering Kevin's deception, Abi distanced herself from him and sought comfort in Carl's arms. In July, she told Carl that she was finished with Kevin and shared a passionate kiss with her brother-in-law after months of flirtation, marking the start of their clandestine affair.
In next week's spoilers, Abi confronts Carl about Tracy Barlow, who had been blackmailing them after uncovering their secret relationship. Carl assures her that he managed to convince Tracy with a sob story and they won't be hearing from her again, reports the Daily Star.
However, when Abi later thanks Tracy for backing off, Tracy reveals that she didn't have much choice after Carl arranged for her shop to be vandalised and threatened her father, leaving Abi shocked.
Later in the week, during a hospital visit for Kevin's cancer check-up, the doctor gives him the all-clear. While Kevin is overwhelmed with relief, Abi struggles to hide her discomfort, particularly when Kevin expresses his excitement about growing old together.
After her hospital appointment, Abi meets Carl and confesses her discomfort with leading a double life and deceiving Kevin.
Back at their home, Kevin proposes they spend their retirement restoring old cars. In response, an uneasy Abi shocks him by suggesting they should end their four-year marriage. The couple tied the knot in 2021.
As the week concludes, Kevin confides in Tyrone Dobbs about his split from Abi and his suspicion that she might be involved with Carl.
Concurrently, in a hotel room, Abi cuddles up to Carl and proposes they elope together to start afresh.
Carl, who has been covertly having an affair with James Bailey, attempts to downplay the situation.
However, their secret could be revealed when Kevin's sister, Debbie Webster, pays a surprise visit to her brother Carl and is taken aback to find Abi there....
