A three-alarm fire in Cliffside Park sent two residents to the hospital on Monday night, authorities said.
The fire, which began around 6:30 p.m., on Lawton Avenue was still activate as of 8:30 p.m., according to William Maer, a spokesperson for Cliffside Park.
When firefighters arrived, the second floor of the 2 1/2-floor wood-frame building was fully engulfed, Maer said. Two victims suffered burns, one third-degree and other second-degree, and were rushed to Hackensack University Medical Center.
The residents on the first floor were all evacuated safely, Maer said. The neighboring apartment building was evacuated due to the exposure, he said. Ten families have been relocated by the fire.
