There's months to go until fans get to see it for themselves but the Coronation Street and Emmerdale crossover is certainly getting them talking.

Both of the ITV soaps offered a joint update last week, confirming that filming was officially underway for the one-off episode which will see the network's beloved soaps come together for the first time.

The standalone episode, set to be dubbed 'Corriedale', will see the residents of Weatherfield join forces with their Yorkshire neighbours in an action packed hour of drama.

Corriedale will air on ITV, STV, ITVX and YouTube in early 2026, and will herald the start of the new soap power hour schedule, with each show screening 30 minute episodes every weekday, Emmerdale at 8pm, followed by Coronation Street at 8.30pm.

It was confirmed that cameras started rolling on the highly anticipated production at the end of September - with details of the stunt and which characters are involved being kept under wraps for the time being.

But it hasn't stopped fans trying to guess what's going on after believing to have spotted a number of 'clues' in recent episodes of the much-loved continuing dramas.

Now, some think they have worked out the plot. @TheConnorSwains said: "It's just struck me......the #Corriedale crossover has to centre on the county lines storyline. With #Corrie set in Greater Manchester and #Emmerdale in Yorkshire, this is the only storyline that quite literally crosses the county lines, geographically and criminally."

@Izzy1728047 commented: "My #corriedale theory is the emmerdale drugs storyline will be linked to Costello, Becky and if I'm honest Cassie as well. I've just got this feeling about it. #Swarla #Corrie #Emmerdale."
