The hardware wallet manufacturer Ledger has regained control of its Discord server after it was targeted by hackers.
The incident occurred on May 10, when a hacker compromised a moderator's account and distributed phishing links.
The attacker urged users to enter their seed phrase on a fraudulent website. Participants attempting to warn the community about the scam were blocked or restricted in the chat.
"The compromise of a moderator's account allowed the attacker to post fraudulent links in one of the channels," said Ledger representative Quentin Boutright.
The team removed the spam bot, blocked access to the compromised account, and strengthened server security.
"We have tightened security measures on Discord. Never enter your seed phrase through links in chats," Boutright emphasized.
Earlier, Ledger customers began receiving physical letters with the company's logo, demanding address verification through seed phrase entry.
Back in December 2024, scammers posing as the company sent phishing email notifications to clients about a service breach to gain access to victims' wallets.
