COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - Taylor Swift has officially reclaimed ownership of her music catalog, sharing the emotional milestone in a handwritten letter to fans.
In the letter, Swift revealed she now owns all of the music she has ever made following a several yearlong battle over the rights to her master recordings. The dispute began in 2019 after her masters were sold without her permission.
"All of the music I've ever made... now belongs... to me," Swift wrote. "My entire life's work."
Swift said the news has brought her to tears of joy, calling the achievement a lifelong dream finally realized. She thanked fans for their support during her process of re-recording albums under the "Taylor's Version" name.
"Thanks to you and your goodwill, teamwork, and encouragement, the best things that have ever been mine... finally actually are."
The letter marks a major milestone in Swift's effort to regain control of her art and shines a spotlight on artist ownership in the music industry.
