Pashinyan says OSCE Minsk Group only deepened conflict

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated during a parliamentary Q&A session that he found no value in the work of the OSCE Minsk Group. He argued that its actions never contributed positively to the peace process.

"Looking back, I must say I don't see anything beneficial in the activities of the OSCE Minsk Group. There has never been anything useful. Their efforts only served to deepen the conflict and create leverage to keep not just Armenia but the entire region in a puppet-like state," Pashinyan said, as reported by Armenpress.

He further claimed that the Nagorno-Karabakh issue had been resolved long ago, but Armenia had not been informed. "Why weren't we told it was already resolved? Because the real issue on the agenda was Armenia. The goal was to 'resolve' the Armenian issue, which meant the fragmentation of Armenia's territorial integrity and the loss of its sovereignty and independence," the Prime Minister stated.

Pashinyan asserted that negotiations held under the Minsk Group format aimed to multiply Armenia's dependencies.

"All those negotiations were designed to double, triple, quadruple, even tenfold Armenia's dependencies. That path would have meant de facto abandoning our independence. But we did not choose that path together. Today, Armenia is more independent, more of a state, and more sovereign than ever, and this is thanks to the sacrifices of our martyrs," he emphasized.

On August 8, Armenia and Azerbaijan jointly submitted a request in Washington to dissolve the OSCE Minsk Group.

The OSCE Minsk process was launched in 1992 to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Its primary platform was the Minsk Group, co-chaired by Russia, the United States, and France.
