ARDMORE, Okla. (KXII) - Ardmore's industrial sector took another big hit Tuesday after AAF Flanders announced that its Ardmore facility will be closing.
A news release from the company, which produces air filtration products, stated that they plan to permanently close the Ardmore plant, which employs 120 people, by December.
AAF Flanders said it is committed to supporting the affected workers and they hope to offer transfers to some employees.
"This was not an easy decision, and we understand the impact it will have on our employees and the local community," the company's statement read. "Our first and immediate concern is for the welfare of our many loyal employees, and we remain extremely grateful for their dedication and contributions to AAF. We are committed to supporting them through this transition and hope some with key skills will transfer to our other facilities. We are also working closely with the local community to minimize the impact of these closures."
The company stated the closure is part of a broader strategic realignment.
The closure comes two years after Michelin announced plans to end tire production at its Ardmore plant. The company plans to end its tire production there by early October.
