King Green shocked the world with 33-second knockout to snap massive favorite's 12-fight win streak

Relive the unbelievable moment when promotional veteran King (formerly Bobby) Green scored one of the biggest underdog upsets in recent UFC memory.

Eight months after being submitted by Paddy 'The Baddy' Pimblett, a royal veteran of the lightweight division is set to make his return to action at UFC 313: Pereira vs Ankalaev.

The artist formerly known as 'Bobby' - King Green is 2-2 in his last four fights and as fans countdown to what'll be his 27 fight in the UFC, it's time to revisit his sensational 33-second knockout win over a surging 'KGD'.

In October 2023, the then-Bobby Green was matched up against Grant 'KGD' Dawson for the main event of a Fight Night card at The Apex in Las Vegas.

Dawson entered the octagon on the back of a 12-fight unbeaten streak that stretched back to 2016 and was a massive favorite heading into the scrap; with a whopping 92% of Tapology users predicting a 'KGD' beatdown.

A beatdown it certainly was, but not in the direction that either the fans or the bookies expected.

Green came out with his hands down and his chin up as he looked to counter Dawson closing the distance; and just 30 seconds into the opening round, dropped 'KGD' with a thunderous straight left hand.

Dawson was sent crashing to the canvas and a few quick follow-up shots later, referee Keith Peterson waved off the bout for what was Green's third knockout win in the UFC.

At the post-fight press conference, UFC CEO Dana White was understandably blown away by Green's first-minute finish - acknowledging that it's what this crazy sport is all about.

"This sport is crazy man, you never know what's going to happen in this sport. When you look at Dawson, this guy hasn't lost a fight since like 2016... And boom, one punch, jab, you never know.

"It's crazy and the odds were like -410 or something like that, crazy sport."

That 'OMG' sentiment was echoed across MMA social media, with the likes of Charles Oliveira reacting with one simple word, "Wow," while Aljamain Sterling wrote: "Broooo!!! WTF?! Wow! Crazy impressive timing on that shot! Right on the money!"

King Green returns to action this coming weekend and the promotional veteran is set to open the PPV main card against surging Brazilian finisher, Mauricio Ruffy.

Ruffy is 11-1 as a professional MMA fighter and 2-0 under the UFC banner; having scored a first-round TKO over Jamie Mullarkey at UFC 301, followed up by a UD win over James Llontop last November.

The flashy Brazilian is widely expected to be a future lightweight title challenger, as evident by the fact that 93% of Tapology users are picking him to beat King Green - the majority of whom are predicting a Ruffy knockout.

As we've learned from his fight against Grant Dawson, being an enormous underdog won't faze King Green one bit... Can the popular veteran replicate his iconic underdog win against Mauricio Ruffy at UFC 313? Find out on Saturday, March 8.
