Dec. 25 -- SIOUX CITY, Iowa. -- After a big week in Arizona, Dakota Wesleyan University senior forward Samuel Aslesen garnered Great Plains Athletic Conference offensive player of the week honors for Dec. 16-22, the conference announced Monday.
Aslesen, a Howard native, posted his two highest-scoring games of the season, helping the Tigers take out a pair of opponents in the Phoenix metro area and earning his first weekly award of the season.
The 6-foot-7 forward tallied 23 points against Justice University on Dec. 20, then followed up with 24 points against Park University Gilbert on Dec. 22, shooting a combined 20-for-33 (60.6%) from the field. He also averaged eight rebounds and 2.5 assists per game across the two contests.
On the year, Aslesen leads the Tigers in scoring at 15.2 points per game and is second on the roster at 6.5 rebounds per game. He has scored in double figures in all but one game this season while shooting 55.1% from the field.
With the pair of victories, DWU owns a 10-3 record with one game left on the slate for 2024, a Hoop City Classic matchup against former conference foe Jamestown on Sunday, Dec. 29, at the Corn Palace.
