M&S gets the party started... in a traffic jam! Christmas ad starring Dawn French is unveiled - Ghanamma.com

Marks & Spencer has revealed its Christmas advert for 2025 starring Dawn French and celebrity chef Tom Kerridge.

The 90-second films opens up on Christmas Eve and shows Dawn, 68, stuck in gridlocked traffic while singing Chris Rea's classic festive track Driving Home for Christmas.

While the advert begins cheerful, Dawn quickly gets frustrated and moans 'How long have we been here?'.

But Fairy - a returning festive cartoon also voiced by Dawn - comes to the rescue and opens up an M&S delivery truck that's ahead of them in traffic.

Inside, an irresistible M&S party food feast awaits and dozens of drivers and passengers dash from their cars to join party.

As drivers pile into the impromptu celebration, there's a cameo from chef Tom, 52, who has worked with M&S on their Christmas offerings this year.

Looking through binoculars into the fun-filled van, the chef jokes 'the world's gone mad'.

It's the fifth year Dawn's 'fairy' character has starred in an M&S Food Christmas advert.

In this year's ad, viewers feast their eyes on a spectacular spread of festive food favourites as Fairy transforms the M&S truck into an epic Christmas party.

The showstopping selection includes Handmade Paella Bites with black tiger prawns and a smoky tomato sauce, Crispy Fish, Chip and Pea Bites, hand-battered and served with a pea and mint crush and Tom Kerridge's Pork & Mushroom Pâté.

Dawn brings her usual comedy to the ad, smashing into a car mirror and jumping on top of a vehicle in her excitement to get to the M&S truck.

Once inside, she's joined by a host of drivers and passengers, all eager to begin the Christmas Day celebrations early.

Meanwhile, M&S Food's Fairy first charmed viewers in a magical world where beloved characters, from Tom Holland's Percy Pig to Jennifer Saunders' Ducky, came to life when humans weren't around.

Last year, Dawn returned as herself; a slightly overwhelmed but relatable Christmas host, supported by her animated alter ego.

Viewers were treated to a six-part series advert in 2024 which highlighted food from the supermarket at the heart of its stories.

'It's a wonderful thing to see Driving Home for Christmas still connecting with people all these years later,' Chris Rea said of this year's advert.

'I first wrote it back in the mid Eighties about the simple joy of getting back to the people you love, and that spirit fits perfectly with Christmas and with what Marks & Spencer does so well.'

Meanwhile Dawn said that 'nothing kicks off the festive season more than the drive home for Christmas'.
