VIENTIANE, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith has sent a message of deep condolence to Thailand's King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua over the death of Thailand's Queen Mother Sirikit.

In his message, Thongloun expressed profound sorrow over the loss, describing Queen Mother Sirikit as a person of great virtue, compassion, and wisdom who dedicated her life to promoting peace and the well-being of the Thai people, according to a Lao News Agency report on Tuesday.

He said Queen Mother Sirikit made significant contributions to strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Thailand and Laos, fostering mutual development and prosperity.

On behalf of the Lao government and people, Thongloun extended his deepest condolences to the Thai royal family, government, and people.

On this occasion, Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone also conveyed a message of condolence to Thailand's Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul.

Lao Minister of Foreign Affairs Thongsavanh Phomvihane sent a message of condolence to Thai Minister of Foreign Affairs Sihasak Phuangketkeow, expressing deep sympathy over the passing of Thailand's Queen Mother Sirikit. ■
