Chatham Town face higher-league Kent opponents in their quest to create some modern history at the club.
It's FA Cup fourth-qualifying weekend coming up and Chats are making the trip to face National South side Tonbridge Angels, with both sides eyeing a spot in the draw for the first round proper.
Chatham were regulars in the early rounds of the competition towards the back end of the 19th century, and once made it to the fifth round, but it's almost a century since they were last in the first round proper.
Chairman and manager Kevin Hake has seen his side enjoy an impressive start to their Isthmian Premier Division campaign, and last weekend a penalty shootout win over Needham Market put them into the first round proper of the FA Trophy.
The FA Cup first round is now within grasp and chairman/manager Kevin Hake said: "We turn our attention to the FA Cup and what an incredible opportunity for the club.
"If we can get past Tonbridge Angels, it will be the first time in around 100 years that Chatham Town have reached the first round proper and that's something that would mean a great deal to everyone connected with the club."
Tonbridge are in good form themselves since appointing Alan Dunne as manager.
The ex-Millwall captain has guided his new team to wins in the FA Cup third qualifying round against Cray Valley (5-0), a 2-1 win over Dover in the league and a 4-1 victory over Sittingbourne in the Kent Senior Cup.
Hake knows the size of the task at hand but said: "Tonbridge are a very good side and we know how tough it will be, but there's a real sense of excitement and belief in the camp.
"We'll prepare properly, keep our focus, and give absolutely everything to try and make a bit of history for this football club:"
Goalkeeper Nathan Harvey was the penalty hero for Chatham last Saturday.
Harvey took over in goal for the FA trophy game at home to Needham Market and helped keep the visitors at bay as the match at the Bauvill Stadium ended goalless.
The match went to penalties and Chats were in trouble, finding themselves two down, but Harvey made two saves to win the shootout and send Chats through to the first round proper.
Harvey, 23, has recently returned to the club where he had a loan spell in 2023. He had a spell with Gillingham and started the current season with Dagenham & Redbridge.
Hake said: "That was another big day for us on Saturday, and I'm really proud of the lads for getting the job done against a strong Needham Market side. It wasn't a classic for the neutral, but in cup football, sometimes it's about digging in, staying organised, and finding a way through
"We showed great discipline over 90 minutes and then handled the penalty shootout superbly. Credit to everyone who stepped up and to those who kept their nerve.
"It was great to see Nathan Harvey do what he does best and was superb in both the game and the shootout."
Chatham have been drawn away to Isthmian North side Waltham Abbey in the next round, with the tie scheduled for Saturday, October 25.
On Tuesday night, Chatham hosted a friendly match against Sheppey Sports at the Bauvill Stadium, with gate proceeds going towards a fundraiser set up to help with the costs of surgery for Sam Folarin who suffered a meniscus tear to his right knee
Chats, who are hoping to raise £6,000 towards the operation and rehab, said: "Sam is not just a talented footballer, he is a passionate and dedicated member of the Chatham Town FC family. His determination, positivity, and love for the game inspire everyone around him."
