BLAIR COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) -- Suspected CEO killer Luigi Mangione is not likely to return to a Blair County courtroom following a recent decision by the U.S. Attorneys office.
According to county district attorney Pete Weeks, federal prosecutors reportedly denied a recent request for Mangione to appear in-person for his upcoming hearing in November.
Earlier this month, a Blair County judge issued an order, requesting that Mangione be made available, in-person, to answer for the charges he faces at the state and local level.
Prosecutors say he can still be present for the hearing, but must do so via video call.
Mangione first made headlines when he was arrested at an Altoona-area McDonalds last December, just days after he allegedly shot and killed UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, in New York City.
He is facing several felonies in Pennsylvania, including forgery and illegal weapons possession.
Mangione is also facing federal charges in New York, with a judge recently agreeing to dismiss a terrorism charge in that case.
His local attorney, Thomas Dickey, previously stated that he would fight the decision to not allow Mangione to appear in-person, claiming that it his "Constitutional right" to do so.
Blair County District Attorney Pete Weeks tells 6 News "we remain prepared to move forward and defend the pretrial motion."
