Messages of congratulations poured in for Alex Borg, who won the PN's internal election to become the new party leader.

The Malta Chamber of SMEs "congratulates Alex Borg on his election as Leader of the Nationalist Party. The SME Chamber emphasises that a strong and effective opposition is fundamental to the proper functioning of a healthy democracy."

The Malta Chamber of SMEs said it looks forward to meeting Borg in his new capacity as Leader of the Nationalist party and eventually Opposition Leader. The Malta Chamber of SMEs also looks forward to holding meetings with the Opposition to present and discuss its proposals for the 2026 Budget. Furthermore, the SME Chamber expresses its gratitude to Bernard Grech for his commitment and service over the past years.

The Gozo Business Chamber congratulated Borg. "This is an important step in any democratic society. The Chamber also believes that this comes at an important stage in the democratic process of our country. Now more than ever our country necessitates a political discourse centred on an inclusive approach, bold regulatory and economic reforms, which however do not put aside the common good. Politics and politicians need to remember that theirs is a vocation to serve, and that they are leading our community by example."

"However, this cannot be done without dialogue which ensures that major reforms are agreed upon, and that any proposed changes to legislation and policies are taken account of and evaluated. A confrontational and antagonistic approach in such a small society, when not justified, hinders genuine progress and the implementation of changes which really benefit society," the Gozo Chamber said. "Political parties need to understand the power and influence they yield, carrying this responsibility accordingly. As a member of Parliament hailing from Gozo, the Chamber believes that his background will be instrumental to understand the challenges faced by the Gozitan community, and the need for the further recognition of Gozo's regional identity and status if Gozo is really to develop in an integral way."

The Association of Catering Establishments also sent its congratulations. "ACE looks forward to discuss with the new leadership the various challenges and issues affecting the catering industry. ACE also looks forward to share its proposals for a sustainable catering industry."

The Momentum party sent its congratulations to the Nationalist Party on the appointment of a new Leader. "This is an important moment in the democratic life of our country. We hope this will mark the beginning of a political season built on respect and a shared commitment to building a more united society, truly empathetic towards everyone."
