BROOKFIELD, CT. (WFSB) - A suspicious package was brought to the Brookfield Police Department Friday afternoon.
Police say that at around 2:15 p.m., the department was notified that the package had arrived at the department.
The Danbury Fire Department, the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, and state police were called to the scene to assist.
The substance inside the package was tested and turned out to be non-hazardous.
Police say that there was no malicious intent behind the incident.
"We remind the public to report all suspicious devices, packages, and substances immediately. However, for your safety and the safety of others, do not handle, move, or transport suspicious items. Please leave them in place and contact 911 -- Do not bring them into the Police Department," said the department in a statement on their Facebook page.
