A 33-year-old motorcyclist who was fatally injured when he crashed into a trash truck in Sky Valley was identified Wednesday.

Ruben Delgado, of Desert Hot Springs, hit the truck at about 1:50 p.m. Tuesday on Dillon Road west of Prospect Road, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's coroner's office and the California Highway Patrol.

Delgado, who was riding a Yamaha motorcycle, was traveling westbound and struck the trash truck, which was making a left turn from the eastbound lane, according to CHP Officer David Torres.

Delgado was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, where he was pronounced dead.

There were no immediate reports of any other injuries.

"Alcohol and/or drugs are not suspected to be a factor in this crash," Torres said.

The cause of the collision was under investigation.
