Images show the massive cruise ship which arrived in the city today. The Nieuw Statendam is currently docked at the city's cruise liner terminal. The cruise ship, which is owned by Holland America Line, launched in 2018 and features a modern design that is inspired by musical instruments.
The vessel, which can hold up to 2692 guests, is 975ft in length and 114.8ft in width. According to the Liverpool Cruise Port website, the ship will depart the city at 11pm this evening.
Shopping writer Emily Sleight was given a tour on board in 2024, where she was given the chance to visit some of its facilities. She said: "Cruise activities on board include music trivia knowledge as well as 'chart topping hits entertainment'. There's also onboard shopping, a gym, casino, cinema, pickleball at sea and a kids club.
"I couldn't believe the sheer amount of food options available, which consist of a steak house, Italian, Asian, Japan and Chinese cuisine, French, Dutch and American cuisine as well as 24-hour room service.
"After being lucky enough to take a look around the Nieuw Statendam, I can sufficiently say that one day I will make sure I go on a proper cruise. Granted, they aren't always cheap, but for the amount you get - it could be so worth it."
The full description on the Holland America website reads: "Fluid lines and dramatic spaces make the Holland America Nieuw Statendam a modern beauty. The second in the line of our Pinnacle Class ships, her design draws inspiration from the elegant curves of musical instruments.
"When not relaxing in well-appointed suites or staterooms, guests will have many innovative dining and entertainment options -- from Rudi's Sel de Mer to Canaletto to the Rolling Stone Lounge, B.B. King's Blues Club, and the visually stunning two-level World Stage."
Information on the Nieuw Statendam can be found on the Holland America website. Alternatively Fred Olsen offers cruises which you can view online.
