A man faces several felony charges, including rape and assault by strangulation, after a sexual assault reported Friday in eastern Wake County.

Around 4 p.m. on Friday, deputies with the Wake County Sheriff's Office responded to an incident on Alfreda Court, near Wendell.

Karaah Blount, 20, was arrested Friday night and charged with first-degree forcible rape, assault on a female, assault by strangulation and misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.

He is being held at the Wake County Detention Center without bond.

His arrest followed a joint investigation involving the Wake County Sheriff's Office, the Garner Police Department and the Wake County District Attorney's Office.
