KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Rural Metro Fire said a cat was rescued from an early-morning house fire in South Knox County on Saturday.

According to Rural Metro's Jeff Bagwell, crews responded to a home in the 1700 block of Woodson Drive at around 2:45 a.m.

When crews arrived on the scene, Bagwell said they found a room on fire with the occupants safely outside.

A cat was rescued from inside the home, and the fire was quickly extinguished, Bagwell said, limiting damage to a large portion of the house.
