KUCHING, Oct 10 (Bernama) -- Police have recorded a statement from the mother of a three-year-old girl who was allegedly fatally abused at Kampung Rampangi, Santubong, near here, on Saturday.

Sarawak police commissioner Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah stated that the 37-year-old woman has not been detained, as the investigation is still ongoing.

"So far, we have only recorded the mother's statement to assist with the investigation, and there is no need to detain her at this point," he told reporters after attending the Sarawak Police Commissioner's monthly assembly at the Sarawak Contingent Police Headquarters here today.
