The Buffalo Bills have a new kicker.

With Tyler Bass on Injured Reserve for at least the first four weeks of the season, the Bills are handing kicking duties to veteran Matt Prater.

Buffalo had signed Prater to the practice squad earlier in the week in anticipation of this outcome. He'll have to be elevated to the active roster ahead of Sunday Night Football against the Baltimore Ravens.

And when Prater steps onto the field, he'll set a record.

Prater will be the oldest player to ever appear in a game for the Bills, per beat reporter Alex Brasky.

Matt Prater is 41 years old.

Specifically, he'll be 41 years and 28 days old when he takes the field on Sunday night for Week 1.

Prater has kicked for the Falcons, Broncos, Lions and Cardinals.

Most recently, he played in four games for the Arizona Cardinals in 2024 and was 6-for-6 on field goals.

In his career, Prater has made 83.6% of his field goals, including 81-for-108 from 50 yards or deeper.

The Bills are a strong fourth-down conversion team thanks to Josh Allen's rushing power, so they won't need Prater a ton.

But if he can make the kicks he's given, it'll go a long way for Buffalo in the early stages of the season.
