World Boxing just announced Imane Khelif being prevented from taking part in the competition unless she agrees to undergo gender testing.
The news comes after the controversy that arose regarding her gender at last year's Paris Olympics.
Khelif was at the center of this bitter storm during the competition when she and another opponent were put in the spotlight over their possibility of being male but competing as a females.
Both boxers were disqualified from the 2023 World Championships run by the International Boxing Associatio,n which is the former governing body for the sport.
The IBA claimed Khelif and Lin failed the gender eligibility tests, leading to their disqualifications from this event.
Amid a growing debate over whether Lin and Khelif should be allowed to compete at the Olympics, the two fighters would go on to win gold in the featherweight and welterweight events, respectively.
World Boxing is now the governing body for this sport, and they have confirmed the introduction of this mandatory gender testing for males and females who wish to take part in this competition.
