Wildlife officials urge people to be aware of coyotes after recent dog attacks in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) -Colorado Parks and Wildlife is urging Colorado Springs residents and visitors to be aware of coyotes after two dogs were recently attacked.

Wildlife officials said the dogs were on six-foot leashes with their owners near Palmer Park and Rockrimmon Open Space.

They said that while new pups are being born, coyotes can become aggressive towards any perceived threats to their young. According to CPW, the pups are typically born around February, and coyotes raise the pups in dens through June.

Wildlife officials advised owners to keep their pets leashed while on walks and indoors at night or in enclosed kennels.
