PARIS, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Paris Police Department is investigating a crash involving a woman who was hit and killed while walking in a crosswalk on Monday morning.

PPD reports that a Henry County woman died after being struck by the van while crossing the road at the "marked and lighted" crosswalk on Hospital Circle near the Henry County Medical Center.

Police said the victim was quickly taken to the emergency room after first responders arrived at the scene of the crash. She died before crews were able to fly her to a trauma center.

"The Paris Police Department is reviewing evidence and investigating the crash at this time and will provide updates when available."
