'The heart of WOW': Beautiful tribute to 'driving force' of performing arts group

A moving show dedicated to the woman at the heart of a performing arts group will dazzle Weymouth audiences.

The WOW Show returns to Weymouth Pavilion this November - featuring show-stopping numbers from Mamma Mia!, Mean Girls, Wicked, Fame, Annie, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Come From Away.

This year's production will be especially meaningful, as it will be dedicated to the memory of Janet Stockley, WOW's much-loved late president and co-founder.

Janet co-founded WOW in 1982 and, for more than 40 years, she was the driving force behind the group.

Sadly, she passed away at Dorset County Hospital on June 4, aged 81.

WOW chairman Alan McKechan said: "Janet was the heart of WOW for over 40 years and made an incredible contribution to so many children. With the creative brilliance of director and choreographer Martine Burt and Musical Director Jessamy Bowditch, we're proud to present a show that honours her legacy in true WOW style."

Janet's dedication, encouragement, and belief in young people were the heartbeat of WOW for more than 40 years. Her passion for musical theatre and commitment to excellence helped inspire generations of local performers, leaving a legacy that continues to shine brightly.

In the show, audiences can look forward to an uplifting and high-energy evening showcasing the extraordinary talent of WOW's young performers.

It will also see the return one of WOW's West End performers, Ollie Vaughan.

Having spent the past months performing professionally in Mrs Doubtfire at London's Shaftesbury Theatre, following a year touring South East Asia with School of Rock, Ollie is thrilled to be back in Weymouth to continue developing and using his skills alongside other talented young people who share his passion for performing.

Many former members will be attending Saturday evening's performance to pay tribute to Janet Stockley, who sadly passed away earlier this year. Among them is Charlotte Anne Steen, currently featuring in Wicked in London's West End as Elphaba cover and Swing.

Tickets are now on sale and expected to sell quickly:

The performances will from Thursday, November 20 to Saturday, November 22 at 7pm, there will also be a matinee performance on Saturday, November 19 at 2pm.
