New digital mental health resource tool launches in Alabama

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - Mental health affects every aspect of a person's life, and the state of Alabama is taking efforts to let people know that they don't have to go it alone.

In partnership with the Alabama Department of Public Health, Alabama Department of Mental Health, and the Jefferson and Mobile County health departments, a new mental health platform called CredibleMind is now available to Alabama residents for free.

The AI-powered tool is designed to provide access to a variety of resources and useful mental-health-related information unique to the person using it.

The idea behind the platform is to reduce the barriers of long waits for professional help, as well as the social stigma that may come from seeking mental health.

Jefferson County health Officer Dr. David Hicks was among many officials seeking a solution to the growing problem of rising stress, anxiety and depression in Alabamians. He expressed enthusiasm for the new platform, saying it represents a significant step forward in the state's efforts to support mental health and well being.

"Through CredibleMind's free easy-to-access resources, barriers to better mental health are reduced and access to the tools needed to thrive improved," he said. "We are committed to promoting mental wellness and reducing the stigma associated with mental health issues."
