Air Ambulance Services to Launch in Maharashtra from November: Health Minister Abitkar

The state will introduce 200 new advanced ambulances on roads to address the growing number of complaints regarding ambulance services

In emergencies, air ambulances will soon be able to reach patients instantly, said State Health Minister Prakash Abitkar. Starting in November, Maharashtra will roll out air ambulance services using two helicopters under the Maharashtra Emergency Medical Services (MEMS 108) initiative.

Alongside, the state will introduce 200 new advanced ambulances on roads to address the growing number of complaints regarding ambulance services. These vehicles will be equipped with cutting-edge technology such as mobile data terminals, tablet PCs, GPS, caller location tracking, CCTV, and triage systems.

Additional features include a computerised dispatch system, vehicle tracking, CRM integration, and advanced patient arrival notification systems. Powered by 5G technology, each ambulance will house over 25 medical devices, including ventilators.

The inclusion of air ambulances will significantly improve emergency response in remote areas. Five sea ambulances (boats) will also be added to the fleet to enhance accessibility in coastal and island regions.
