Former Inco senior geologist shaped the industry's understanding of the Sudbury basin
Sudbury's Gordon Morrison, one of Canada's more successful explorers, has been selected to join the four-member 2026 class to be inducted into the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame.
With more than 50 years of experience in the the exploration and mining industry, Morrison spent 32 years with Inco where he served as senior geologist and was head of the Sudbury exploration group.
His work led to 17 major mineral discoveries with Inco and later FNX Mining and reshaped mineral discovery in the Sudbury basin.
Celebrated as a team builder and mentor to many colleagues, his mantra, "Learn and Adjust," makes him one of the industry's leading explorers.
He serves as an advisor with many companies, including Sudbury's Magna Mining.
The annual Canadian Mining Hall of Fame Dinner and Induction Ceremony on Jan. 8, 2026, at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
Joining him on the podium will be Franco-Nevada co-founder, explorer and financier David Harquail, former Teck Resources CEO-president and mining financier Don Lindsay, and mining financier and company builder Catherine McLeod-Seltzer.
