Tottenham are keeping tabs on FC Porto striker Samu Aghehowa as a potential long-term No.9 solution. TeamTalk has reported that Tottenham are building a shortlist of strikers under the age of 24, with Samu firmly at the top of the shortlist. The 21-year-old Spain international has started this season in fine form, scoring five goals in his first six appearances.

Samu has in fact started life in Portugal in fine form, scoring 32 goals and adding three assists in 52 games since joining Porto in 2024 from Atletico Madrid. He is regarded as one the world's brightest young strikers for his pace and power.

Tottenham have been in search of a reliable goal scorer since the departure of long time talisman Harry Kane in 2023. Dominic Solanke was signed in 2024 off the back of impressive showings with Bournemouth but has been so far unable to replicate that form in the North London.

Injuries have also hampered his time at the club as his most recent knock has seen him absent for much of the 2025/2026 season. He has not featured since Tottenham's victory over Manchester City on August 23.

Richarlison has deputized in the No.9 role occasionally but many Spurs fans are divided on whether or not that is his true position. Randal Kolo Muani was a late summer signing on loan from PSG, but he too has suffered niggling injuries and was never viewed as a long term solution.

While rumours have spread of Spurs holding out hope for a sensational Harry Kane return, the club is believed to be building reports on realistic alternatives to target in the future. It is believed that a Kane return would be an added bonus in any case, given the player's age.

Widespread rumours of new investment arriving at Tottenham beginning in 2026 have also made the rounds and could potentially hasten any recruitment plans. At the moment these reports are unfounded, and Tottenham are understood to be building long term plans.
