This Morning's Dermot O'Leary shared the NTAs speech "blunder" after they won the Daytime gong for the first time in two years.
On Wednesday (September 10), it was a big night for the small screen as the National Television Awards took place for their 30th year.
With 14 awards up for grabs, every category was equally competitive. However, for This Morning they received a win for the first time in two years.
Taking home the Daytime gong, they celebrated as they'd lost out on the award to The Repair Shop and The Chase previously.
During Friday's (September 12) installment of This Morning, Dermot O'Leary and Alison Hammond returned to the show. As they promised not to mention their win "too much", Dermot then revealed a blunder during their NTAs speech.
On the night, it was Alison who kicked off the speeches, as she said: "Natural order has been restored. Can we just say a massive thank you to each and every person who voted for This Morning. We are so overwhelmed.
"This award means so much. We've been humbled the last two years, we haven't won this award. We don't take it lightly that we won this award, we're so grateful."
Cat then stepped up to the microphone and added: "We are so lucky to get to do this show, we all love it. Every single person who comes on, we love this show and it's like having a family."
However, Dermot shared that wasn't the original plan, as he said: "Me and Ali are talking, and we said 'what do we do if we win?'.
"We both decided as a team, that if we win even though we've been here longer, the right thing to do is for Ben and Cat to do the speech."
He continued: "You can imagine my surprise, therefore... Anyway, as we're walking up I'm like, 'if we get the opportunity I'll say something about a couple of really tough years, it'd be really nice to give them some credit'. Then (turning to Alison) in your defence, no one said anything.
"So I thought to myself, 'alright, I shall do it', and I inhaled and then you spoke! I kept thinking to myself, I'll say something in a minute... No, she's still talking, no, no, she's still talking!'"
As Alison struggled to contain her laughter, she gave Dermot a chance to shine on This Morning and give his gratitude speech. However, he was rudely interrupted by the music, as he quipped: "Driest of the dry!"
