It took six hours and 39 minutes, benchwarmers becoming stars, 609 pitches, 44 players and finally a Freddie Freeman walk-off home run for the Dodgers to outlast the Blue Jays 6-5 in an 18-inning test of stamina.

Drama filled
It wasn't just long, it was great, according to several national columnists.
"It was a game unlike any before, never to be repeated again," ESPN's Jeff Passan wrote. "There have been 703 games played in the 121-year history of the World Series. While there are certainly competitors, this one launched itself into the upper echelon, undoubtedly elite."

The Athletic's staff heaped on more praise for the marathon game. Jen McCaffrey and Cody Stavenhagen compared the game's drama to a mix between Martin Scorsese and James Joyce in their recap of all the best moments. Fellow contributor Jayson Stark called it a "game for the ages."
"These are the games that live on forever. These are the home runs that leave the bat and never come down. These are the memories that don't ever fade," Stark wrote.
