North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui will reportedly visit Russia and Belarus at the invitation of their respective foreign ministries.
The North's state Korean Central News Agency issued the report Sunday, without specifying details such as dates or an itinerary.
Choe's trip to Russia comes about a year after her previous visit to Moscow in November last year, during which she held talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and paid a courtesy call to President Vladimir Putin.
During the upcoming visit, Choe is expected to meet with Lavrov again and discuss a possible visit to Russia by North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
Her trip comes just days before U.S. President Donald Trump is set to visit South Korea on Wednesday and Thursday.
Although Trump expressed his willingness on Friday to meet with Kim, a U.S.-North Korea summit appears unlikely this time, as Choe, one of Kim's key aides, will be abroad during Trump's visit.
