The actress's new movie, out December 24, is a family drama starring herself, Toni Collette, and Helen Mirren.

Hollywood royalty and red carpet mainstay Kate Winslet has become one of the most recognizable faces in the world over the course of her three-decade-long career in the industry. The natural beauty is known for her understated elegance, looking ever-poised and glamorous during each outing. With the exception of her fiery-red Titanic tresses, Winslet has favored golden-blonde hues for much of her life in the public eye. In fact, it's rare that she changes up her tresses -- she is a creature of habit with a penchant for face-framing layers, curtain bangs, bouncy curls, and voluminous updos. However, Winslet is entering a new era of her life with her directorial debut, Goodbye June, and what better way to mark the next chapter than with a major hair transformation?

Netflix just released a first look of the forthcoming family drama (out December 24), in which Winslet serves as director, producer, and star. While fans undoubtedly can't wait to see what Winslet, Toni Collette, Helen Mirren, and the rest of the star-studded cast get into in this story, I couldn't help but notice Winslet's dramatic hair change.

Gone were the bouncy coils and cheek-grazing bangs, replaced by full fluffy fringe and straight strands. While the Lee actress held true with her sunshine-blonde hue, she debuted cascading, flipped ends and eyebrow-sweeping bangs that spanned across her forehead. In the film stills, she also traded bold-colored gowns for muted earth tones via beige track pants, a white button-down shirt with beige stripes, a light-brown vest, and crisp-white sneakers.

The movie takes place just before Christmas, when four adult siblings and their annoying father are thrown for a loop when their mom faces unexpected health issues. The family descends into chaos as they attempt to navigate the situation, meanwhile, their mother, June, "orchestrates her decline on her own terms -- with biting humor, blunt honesty, and a lot of love," per Netflix.

The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind star has clearly been busy at work, as she hasn't stepped out in public since June. In the beginning of the summer, she joined the royal family at the King's Foundation Awards ceremony in London, England. Then, she rocked her signature shoulder-length blonde curls with a middle part and a clean white suit.
