Euphoria star Colman Domingo is praising the series' anticipated third and final season ahead of it hitting our screens. Domingo, who has starred in the Emmy Award-winning show as Rue's (Zendaya) AA sponsor Ali Muhammed since its first season, says the Season 3 storylines he's heard have taken his "breath away."
During a recent conversation with Variety, following the announcement of his Golden Globe nomination for the drama Sing Sing, Domingo revealed that he has spoken with Euphoria creator Sam Levinson about the HBO series' concluding season. While he prefaced his comments with the caveat that he had not yet read a script, he believed that Euphoria's third season would feature "some of the most gorgeous writing that Sam has ever done," based on their conversations:
"I have not seen a script, but I have heard about some scripts, and what I've heard is fantastic. It's characters that we know, and we're on the journey with, and we're fighting for them as they're fighting for their own spaces in the world. They're all having breakthroughs in many ways. That's what I found out.
I think it's some of the most gorgeous writing that Sam has ever done. It's just from what I heard too, because I've heard from my friend Sam himself. He's like, 'Let me just tell you a little bit about it.' From what he told me, it took my breath away."
The breakthroughs Domingo mentions will occur as Rue, Nate (Jacob Elordi), Jules (Hunter Schafer), Cassie (Sydney Sweeney), and the rest of the returning Euphoria cast navigate young adulthood, post-high school -- as the series will feature a time jump upon its return.
'Euphoria's Season 3: A Long-Awaited Return Close
Domingo's comments indicate that a third season of Euphoria will come to fruition, but plenty of doubt has been cast that audiences would ever even see a closing chapter for the hit HBO series. Season 2 aired in early 2022, and production has been delayed due to the Hollywood strikes and cast scheduling conflicts. Speculation that we had seen the last of Rue and her friends grew earlier this year when HBO shared that the show's "in-demand cast" were allowed "to pursue other opportunities." Shortly after, an unknown actor shared their concerns that a third season would actually ever happen. A strained relationship between Euphoria star/executive producer Zendaya, and series creator Levinson, was also reported.
Most of the cast is expected to return for Season three, minus Storm Reid (who recently revealed that her character, Rue's younger sister Gia, would not be part of the upcoming season) and, of course, Angus Cloud, who tragically passed away in 2023 from an accidental drug overdose.
Production for Season 3 of Euphoria is scheduled to begin in January. According to recent reports, the series is scheduled to return in 2026. Either way, "I think it's going to be an incredible, incredible Season 3, well worth the wait. We will deliver, I promise you that," Domingo told Variety.

On Domingo's end, he was nominated for an Oscar, BAFTA, and Golden Globe for his work on Rustin. His latest nomination for Sing Sing adds to the actor's list of critically lauded performances.
