Senior standout Grace Bazin scored a career-high four goals and younger sister Emma Bazin added two as Keene State rolled past Plymouth State, 7-0, in a dominant Little East Conference field hockey victory Saturday at the Owl Athletic Complex.
Grace, the nation's Division III goals leader, has scored 22 times this season and moved into fourth place on Keene State's all-time scoring list with 67 career goals. She has scored in all but one game this season. She found the back of the cage in all four quarters, including twice in the final minute before halftime.
First-year forward Emma Bazin recorded her first collegiate multi-goal performance, scoring twice in the opening half. The Bazin duo combined for five goals in the first 30 minutes as the Owls (9-3, 2-0 LEC) built a 5-0 halftime lead and never looked back. The Bellows Falls sisters scored back-to-back, 38 seconds apart, in the final 1:06 before the break.
Keene State overwhelmed the Panthers (4-5, 0-1 LEC) from the start, scoring twice in the opening 10 minutes and outshooting Plymouth 40-11 for the game. PSU didn't register its first shot until nearly 16 minutes in and finished with its most lopsided loss in series history. The Owls have now won 10 straight against the Panthers, who have only won once in Keene (2009).
Goalie Clara Gorman made seven saves in the first three quarters for KSC before giving way to Molly Diamondstein, who closed out the final 15 minutes without facing a shot.
Keene State wraps up its four-game homestand Tuesday night at 5:00 p.m. against the University of New England.
