The Nigeria Customs Service, Area 11 Onne Command in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, is strengthening partnerships with key stakeholders operating in the Onne Seaport. This initiative follows the Service's commitment to enhancing trade facilitation through active inter-agency collaboration.
According to a statement from the Command's Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent of Customs Theophilus P. Duniya, Comptroller Aliyu M. Alkali, the Customs Area Controller of Port Harcourt II, recently commenced a series of focused visits to engage stakeholders within the port environment.
These visits are designed to promote cooperation, intelligence sharing, and regulatory compliance across government agencies to achieve mutual objectives. During the engagements, Comptroller Alkali met with influential figures including Omerio Mathias Odo, Commander of Narcotics at the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the Director of State Security for Port Harcourt Ports Command, and Rear Admiral Victor D. Choji, Commandant of the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School in Onne.
In his remarks, Alcali stressed the critical role of teamwork and synergy among agencies to drive progress and meet organizational goals effectively. He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR's policy agenda focused on consolidation, collaboration, and innovation. He believes these engagements will foster stronger relationships and promote adherence to regulations.
Stakeholders expressed a united willingness to cooperate closely with Comptroller Alkali and his team to realize these objectives. The Commander of Narcotics pledged to work alongside the Customs to minimize illicit drug trafficking.
