KOTA KINABALU: Forensic pathologist Dr Jessie Hiu told the Coroner's Court on Wednesday that Zara Qairina Mahathir's injuries were consistent with a fall from height and not with physical abuse.
She explained to Sessions Court Judge Amir Shah Amir Hassan that the pattern and distribution of injuries were in line with trauma caused by impact and deceleration forces.
Advertisement Hiu said Zara suffered direct impact injuries on her knees, typical of someone landing on their feet, followed by secondary injuries on her left hand and forearm as she fell backwards.
She added that the force travelled upwards from the lower limbs, causing a fracture to the lumbar vertebrae and damage to muscle tissue.
