Georgia TikTok influencer dies after battle with brain cancer

GEORGIA, USA -- A 19-year-old Georgia influencer has died after her battle with brain cancer, according to a post from her family on her TikTok.

Anna Grace Phelan, of Jefferson, Georgia, documented her stage 4 brain cancer journey on social media. Her updates on her health garnered millions of viewers who watched along, supporting her throughout her journey.

Phelan first found out she had stage 4 glioblastoma, a highly aggressive brain cancer, in September 2024.

On Saturday, her parents posted a Facebook update to her TikTok page announcing her passing. According to an online obituary, she passed away on Friday.

"It is with great sadness to announce that our beautiful daughter, Anna Grace Phelan, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ," the statement said.

According to the obituary, Phelan graduated from Jefferson High School in May 2024, and before she could start her freshman year of college, she got the news of her cancer. She worked as a receptionist at the Georgia Skin Cancer and Aesthetic Dermatology, the obituary added.

She was a member of the Galilee Christian Church and enjoyed church camp and other youth group activities, the obituary stated.

As Phelan continued her battle, she also shared her faith journey along the way, often encouraging her supporters. Her posts serve to bring awareness to brain cancer.

"So many of you have followed her journey through a difficult battle with cancer and bore witness to her powerful testimony of faith. Thank you for the countless thousands of prayers for healing and peace," her family said in a statement.

On May 14, she posted a heartbreaking update stating her tumor had grown, causing more complications for her, but she still thanked her supporters for praying and kept strong in her faith.

"It would take a miracle to fix me here on earth, but I'm not giving up yet," she said in that May 14 TikTok.

She is survived by her parents William "Buddy" and Nadine Phelan of Jefferson, Georgia; brother, Harper David Phelan of Jefferson, Georgia; maternal grandparents, David Duane Turner and Robin Lee Catalino Turner of Maysville, Georgia; paternal grandparents, William Harper Phelan Jr. and Stephanie Lynn Yancey Phelan of Ocala, Florida; a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

The online obituary added that her funeral will be held at the Galilee Christian Church on Thursday, May 29, at 4 p.m. The burial will follow at the church's cemetery.

A visitation will also be held on Thursday from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the church before the service.

In lieu of flowers, her family is asking that gifts be made to The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation here.

Her funeral service will be livestreamed on the Galilee Christian Church YouTube channel, according to the obituary.
