Ray-Ban Meta Gets Deepika Padukone Voice, Hindi, And UPI Features In India

Meta is bringing localized AI updates to Ray-Ban Meta glasses in India, introducing UPI Lite payments, full Hindi language support, and an AI voice modeled after actress Deepika Padukone. These enhancements aim to make the smart glasses more personal, hands-free, and enjoyable for Indian users, reflecting Meta's push to tailor its products to regional needs and user preferences.

Ray-Ban Meta glasses in India have received a significant update with the introduction of UPI Lite payments, enabling users to make quick, low-value transactions directly from their smart glasses. This integration allows for a seamless, contactless payment experience, making everyday purchases more convenient and reflecting Meta's focus on enhancing usability for Indian consumers.

The glasses now also offer full Hindi language support, allowing users to interact with the device in their native language. This update is aimed at improving accessibility and encouraging adoption among users who may be less comfortable with English, ensuring that the advanced wearable technology is user-friendly for a wider Indian audience.

A major personalization feature is the addition of an AI voice modelled after Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone. This localised voice option enhances engagement and relatability, making interactions with the device more enjoyable. By combining familiar voices with regional language support, Meta is tailoring its products to better suit Indian users' preferences.

Together, these updates: UPI Lite payments, Hindi language interactions, and Deepika Padukone's AI voice, make the Ray-Ban Meta glasses more relevant and appealing in India. While the rollout highlights Meta's localisation efforts, details regarding pricing and availability have not yet been announced, though the updates mark a step towards creating a culturally and linguistically adapted wearable device for the Indian market.

As per the company, "You can interact with Meta AI using your voice on your Ray-Ban Meta glasses, as well as the Meta AI app, and it will reply to you out loud. As this feature becomes available, Deepika Padukone (available in IN-EN) joins Meta AI's global lineup of voices for the assistant, including many recognizable celebrity voices to choose from."
