With season underway, Carson City's Senators Cycling off to great start - Carson Now

Carson Cycling Varsity Boys. The Senators will be traveling to Mammoth Mountain for their next race Sept. 28.

The 2025 northern Nevada high school and middle school mountain bike season is underway. Senators Cycling, representing Carson City, recently competed in the second race of the season hosted by Northstar Mountain Resort.

The season opener was held at Kirkwood Mountain Resort on August 24th, the first year Kirkwood was included among the race venues. Arriving with 45 competitors, the Senators took 3rd in the team category at Kirkwood.

Noting that the podium includes the top 5 finishers in each category, Lily Beardsley (4th, level 4 girls), Evie Huntington (3rd, level 3 girls), Sylis Chalmers (4th, Varsity boys), Devon Granata (5th, Varsity boys), Fletcher Morway (3rd, level 5 boys), Bryce Card (1st, level 4 boys), Cavery Jones (4th, level 4 boys), and Mark Lobsinger (2nd, level 1 boys) all raced to podium-worthy finishes. Notably, the Senators had eight additional riders race to a top 10 finish, including Riley Kuhlman (Varsity girls), Brooke Landis (JV girls), Adeline Jensick (level 4 girls), Mira Orvald (level 2 girls), Clara Morway, (level 1 girls), Asa Morway (Varsity boys), Jax Huntington (level 5 boys), and Max Giurca (level 1 boys).

At Northstar the Senators entered 44 racers, ending the day with a second place showing in the team category. Podium finishers included Riley Kuhlman (5th, Varsity girls), Lily Beardsley (5th, level 4 girls), Evie Huntington (5th, level 3 girls), Clara Morway (3rd, level 1 girls), Devon Granata (4th, Varsity boys), Sylis Chalmers (5th, Varsity boys), Jax Huntington (3rd, level 5 boys), and Cavery Jones (4th, level 4 boys). Seven more racers had top 10 finishes: Brooke Landis (JV girls), Adeline Jensick (level 4 girls), Nikki Lawlor (level 4 girls), Syrae Lenz (level 2 girls), Sophia Alferez (level 1 girls), Fletcher Morway (level 5 boys), and Mark Lobsinger (level 1 boys).

The Senators will be traveling to Mammoth Mountain for their next race on Sept. 28. On Oct. 12, the Senators will host the Capital City Crusher. Seventeen teams in the northern Nevada interscholastic mountain bike league, featuring more than 350 racers, will converge on Carson City to race on the trails behind WNC. The high school boys kick off the racing at 9 a.m. and are followed by the high school girls (10:30 a.m.), middle school girls (12:15 p.m.) and finally the middle school boys get rolling at around 1:30 p.m.
