Unifrance Rendez-Vous Kicks Off in Le Havre With Diverse Crop of French Fare Ranging From Corsica-Set Crime Thriller 'Vendetta' to Saucy 'Escort Boys' 4 days ago
France TV Distribution has launched international sales for new series "When the Night Comes," which explores the impact of sexual violence, at the Unifrance Rendez-Vous in Le Havre.
Created by Marine Gacem and produced by top French TV production company Elephant Story for France TV, the six-part series, inspired by true events, follows four women, - Stéphanie, Camille, Isabelle and Nafissa, all victims of a serial rapist - who join forces, refusing to stay silent and instead speak out to a silent community.
Assaulted in the middle of the night in their homes in a seaside town, they recount the same modus operandi, the same shock. With the help of Karine, a police officer, and Romain, Stéphanie's tormented brother, the women fight to rebuild their lives.
Directed by Franck Steen from a screenplay by Gacem, Claude Carpentier and Clara Lemaire-Anspach, the series "powerfully and accurately explores the impact of sexual violence on victims and those around them," France TV Distribution stated.
"When the Night Comes" stars Charlie Bruneau, Raphaël Lenglet, Alice Daubelcour, Antoine Hamel, Jérémie Poppe, Ludmilla Dabo, Grégoire Bonnet, Christine Citti, Arièle Sémenoff, Myriam Bourguignon and Marie Mallia.
The series is one of a number of new shows France TV Distribution is presenting at the Rendez-Vous, among them "Vendetta," which opens this year's market, and historical slave drama "Unchained."
Other highlights include the four-part event crime-drama "Laura's Treatments." It follows Laura, a pharmacist and mother, who has devoted her life to helping victims of domestic violence, even founding the organization Women Standing Tall. But when she witnesses the shocking murder of one of her members, her world is shattered. Tormented by the femicide and outraged by the indifference of the police and justice system, Laura decides to take matters into her own hands.
"Laura's Treatments," produced by Tetra Media Fiction for France 2, stars Valérie Bonneton along with Samir Guesmi, Pascal Rénéric, Pauline Parigot, Yannick Rénier and Catherine Am.
"Kitchen Hustle," meanwhile, follows three young ambitious women - Johanna, a sous-chef in a Michelin-starred restaurant, Amandine, who ditched business school to serve tables, and Vivian, who dreams of becoming a food critic - who team up to make their mark in Parisian gastronomy, an elitist, cutthroat male-dominated world.
Produced by CG Cinema for France 2, "Kitchen Hustle" stars Yowa-Angélys Tshikaya, Louise Labèque, Edouard Sulpice and Jean-Hugues Anglade.
